Returns and refunds

Bale Vault, a subsidiary of Checkmate, supplies mixed new and second-hand clothing. Bale contents, styles, sizes and colours vary. Please read the listing and request current stock photos before ordering. Specific defects must be disclosed before purchase.

Damaged, defective or incorrect goods

If all clothing in a bale was supplied damaged, we offer a full refund of the amount paid for that bale after verifying the claim and arranging the return. If only some garments are damaged, defective or incorrect, contact us to assess the affected goods and arrange the remedy required by applicable law. Your rights do not depend on every garment being damaged.

Where the Consumer Protection Act applies, qualifying defective goods may be returned within six months of delivery for the remedy provided by law, including repair, replacement or refund. We bear return costs where legally required. Damage caused by the customer after delivery is assessed separately.

Online cancellation rights

Where section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act applies, you may cancel an online purchase without reason or penalty within seven days after receiving the goods. Only the direct cost of returning the goods may be charged. Payments must be refunded within 30 days of cancellation. Statutory exceptions may apply.

Other voluntary returns

For a voluntary return outside statutory cancellation, defect or other refund rights, our refund is 70% of the purchase price paid for the returned goods. The remaining 30% is retained only where permitted by law. Contact us before returning goods to confirm eligibility, return arrangements and delivery costs in writing. This rule does not limit any right to a full refund or other remedy under applicable law.

Requesting a return

Email balesvault@gmail.com or WhatsApp 071 826 2397 with your order number or proof of purchase, the reason for the return and photos of any damage if available. Keep goods available for inspection and arrange the return with us at 51 Hyskraan Close, Kya Sands, Travellyn West Park, Johannesburg. No additional short reporting deadline removes your statutory rights.

Refund amounts and method are confirmed in writing. Refunds use the original payment method where possible, subject to applicable legal deadlines. Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
